March was good for nine paintings shown above.
Three, painted early March, were larger than my norm. Happy to be notified that all three were juried into the Mountain Arts Association Spring Show which will be on exhibit at Brasstown Valley Resort. Opening Reception, Fri., Apr. 6th.
In the works…
Just planted zinnia seeds in our sunny window, hidden and hoping to be models in future paintings this summer.
Preparing for a beginning watercolor weekend workshop at John C. Campbell Folkschool late July.
Making time to take more reference photos.
Hope I have something to show next month. Thanks for checking in.
October work is a mix of wherever I felt led. I’m still trying to figure out if there is an underlying theme 🙂 Perhaps, fall/winter, dramatic lighting or mood? The one thing that all nine paintings have in common? Eyes.
Discovery consists not in seeking new lands, but in seeing with new eyes. -Marcel Proust
My 2018 Art Calendar, features some of my favorite paintings from 2017, now shipping.
A fun month of a variety of subjects and focus on different types of light and shadow. Learn more about each painting.
It’s always interesting to see if an underlying theme emerges from a month’s paintings. I’m amused by the fox and the grapes that have appeared.
Also happy to introduce 2018 Calendar featuring some of my favorite paintings completed in 2017.
One watercolor, four acrylics and seven oils make up the 12 images for each of the 12 months. See each month’s image.
Not sure of September focus…Stay in touch during the month at June Rollins ART

My May focus was flowers from my own reference photos. Here are the nine completed paintings of flowers growing in our flower garden except for the daisies that grow naturally by the road where we live. I took many more photos to use as references later, as my June focus will be landscapes.

Here’s the first, actually completed for a May assignment in an online oil painting course I’ve enrolled in with Bill Inman. I’ll continue to study and learn from his approach in June. *Many opportunities to begin again as I am learning!
The above paintings, plus more, are up for auction in my Daily Paintworks Gallery.
I’ve posted process steps of some of the above flower paintings and will be posting June Landscapes at: June RollinsART.

Since my husband, Rob, and I are currently reading and following Dr. Mark Hyman’s, Eat Fat, Be Thin, it’s only fitting I commit this quarter to working in oils.
So far so good with the painting and the 10 Day Detox.
I’ve tried oils off and on through the years, diets, too. Between us we’ve lost 17 lbs and are feeling empowered and energized being off sugar.
I’m feeling pretty good about this first painting too 🙂

If interested in seeing my oil painting progression, I’ll be posting new oil paintings at June Rollins ART. They will eventually be for sale, but need to dry first.
And if you are feeling like we were, discouraged by excessive weight gain or tired and achy all the time, check out the links above. You know it’s gotta be working, for me to mention on my art blog 😉
Happy Spring To All!
