Just Before Sunset Watercolor Demo – Step 5

This post will complete the watercolor demonstration for Just Before Sunset.

I’ve continued painting section by section using the same process as described in step 4.

Even though I haven’t quite finished the fabric in the lower left corner, I felt the need to concentrate on the pitcher. I used glazes of cool over warm to create a luminous glow for the smooth ceramic.

Here is the finished painting after making a few adjustments. Notice how the darker value in the upper left pushes the pitcher forward. And how the lifted highlights on the pitcher give it more of a sunlit glow.

Just Before Sunset is being donated to the John C. Campbell Fine Craft & Blacksmith Auction. It is an example of the process I teach in my five-week beginner/advanced beginner watercolor workshop series. Next series scheduled April 2015 at Tri-County Community College, Murphy, NC.
