“Letting Go” Receives 3rd Place

Letting Go received 3rd place in the watercolor category in the 30th Annual Fine Arts Festival sponsored by the Arts Council of Moore County. The juror was Peter Nisbet, Chief Curator at the Ackland Art Museum at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

This exhibit of 220 pieces of artwork, photography, digital art and 3-D is open to the public through August 26th at Campbell House Galleries, 482 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines, NC. Call for hours: 910-692-2787

Letting Go is part of my Textured Series which is shown on my website www.artbyjune.net. This piece has a lot of personal symbolism. It’s interesting to me that I took the photo in Lexigton, NC fourteen years before painting it in 2008. Which either reveals I have a good filing system for reference photos or I’m a procrastinator 😉

I also entered Iris #3, Light Within, from my All About Iris Series. It did not receive any special recognition from the judge, but Phyllis was impressed with it. Which did my heart good.

I completed Iris #9 yesterday and feel like I am just getting warmed up in wanting to delve into the mystery of this flower. Something I can’t put into words is luring me. A good problem for an artist to have.

If I could say it in words,

 there would be no

 reason to paint.
