Church Portrait Completed!

Here is the finished portrait of First United Methodist Church, Wadesboro, NC. I’ve donated it to the church and prints and note cards are for sale through the church through Sept. 2010. All profits go towards the organ renovation fund. Order forms are available at FUMC. 704-694-5179

Thought you might be interested in seeing the reference photo I used and hearing of its origin.

Earlier this year during the Easter Sunrise Service in the Presbyterian Courtyard, we were asked to face east. This is what I saw, only in the deep shadow of dawn.

I whispered to Gail, “Do you think our church would look nice painted from this perspective?”

“I don’t think it’s ever been done that way before,” she paused. “Yeah, I do!”

And my decision was made. I came back when the sun was at a better angle; thankfully, before the leaves came out on the trees and took several  photos.

It was a difficult decision to leave out the shadows in the foreground 😉 But in the end, good sense prevailed 😀
